Project Lead: Kristine K. Miller, Assistant Professor, Physical Therapy Department, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Indiana University-Indianapolis
Co-Project Lead: Carol Hanna, Yoga Therapist, YMCA of Madison County
The focus of this project is to establish a community-based adapted group yoga program for people with physical impairments after stroke or acquired brain injury (ABI), and to establish efficacy of the program for improving long-term physical impairments. We plan to achieve these outcomes through a partnership between Indiana University School of Health and Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy Department and the YMCA of Madison County. This partnership creates a team with expertise in rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation needs of people with physical impairments after stroke or ABI as well as expertise in managing successful community-based exercise programs.
