The experienced and CCRC (Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) certified nursing staff of the IU School of Medicine OCRF (Outpatient Clinical Research Facility) offers full coordinator service. The OCRF is multidisciplinary with a focus on outpatient clinical trials for industry. The OCRF may refer sponsors seeking an investigator and subject population to an investigator at IU who already has the coordinator resource in place. If an investigator is identified who does not have resources, then the OCRF will assess the study to determine if services can be provided. The OCRF is financially supported by the studies that are performed. Study coordinators at the OCRF will assist with budget and contract negotiation, IRB submissions, study oversight, subject recruitment, and retention, subject visits, principal investigator identification (when indicated), and case report form completion. Research subjects can be evaluated in the OCRF exam rooms in which other services associated with the trials can be performed (e.g., phlebotomy, ECG, questionnaire completion, clinical assessments) to make participation in a study as convenient as possible for the research volunteer. The OCRF provides the pharmaceutical sponsor with convenient, single-point access to extensive resources of the IU Medical Center for the conduct of outpatient clinical trials. Our vision is for the OCRF to become a truly central facility at the IU School of Medicine for the performance of clinical trials (primarily outpatient industry).
