Why the math question?
Design & Biostatistics Program

Over the past 40 years, biostatistics programs at Indiana University and Purdue University have been a critical and highly productive component of the research community. While there is professional interaction among programs, they have generally operated independently. The CTSI, through the Design and Biostatistics Program (DBP), will transform the manner in which investigators access biostatistics and provide expanded availability of novel biostatistical tools. It will provide CTSI investigators with a central means to receive support from a comprehensive coalition of scientists with general and specialized statistical expertise. The DBP also will place an “embedded” biostatistician in each Project Development Team (PDT) (Program 3) so that statistical support is considered in the planning, design, and conduct of all CTSI protocols reviewed by these teams. In addition to enhancing the educational and training opportunities for clinical and translational researchers, the DBP will actively develop novel statistical approaches, such as adaptive study designs, and novel methods of analyses.
