Why is this study being done?Racial discrimination has negative effects on the health of children and adolescents. Caregiver support is important for adolescent mental health and may help young people manage the negative impacts of racial discrimination experiences. We hope to learn more about how caregivers support their adolescents in this way, and use the information gained from this study to create interventions for adolescent health and well-being.Teens and their caregivers must be able to participate in the study, as it is important for us to gain both perspectives on these topics.Who can take part in this study?Teens (ages 13-17) who identify as Latine/Hispanic and a primary caregiver who identifies as Latine/Hispanic.

DO YOU HAVE A CHILD AGE 27 - 32 MONTHS? Join Our Study!   Researchers at Purdue University are inviting families with toddlers (27 - 32 months), especially those who identify as a racial or ethnic minority, to join a study exploring how children learn language over time.    We plan to follow families as their children grow from 27-32 months to four years old.  Families who take part will help us learn about the many ways children can succeed at language learning.  We want to improve how we identify which children should receive additional support before school.

Does your child say sentences that are short, and have missing words or mistakes (such as "Where him go?", "Her like candy")Is your child hard to understand because they can't pronounce some sounds? Do they receive speech therapy now?Does your child have trouble following directions?Study participation involves your child attending in-person study visits to the Purdue SLHS Research Lab in Indianapolis, IN.Compensation will be provided.

DO YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW HAVE SICKLE CELL DISEASE?  Join Our Study!     Researchers at the Indiana University School of Medicine are looking for teens and adults with Sickle Cell disease to take part in a study to learn more about whether acupuncture (or acupressure), which is a non-opioid alternative pain management approach, can help manage chronic and acute pain from this condition.   Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles through the skin at specific points (“Acupoints”) on the body to different depths.  This treatment may help relieve pain and it is used for a wide range of pain conditions.   Acupressure involves pressure stimulation of the deep tissue at specific acupoints, as used in acupuncture treatment mentioned above.   Your participation will help researchers to gain further knowledge about the effectiveness of acupuncture or acupressure for pain management, which could lead to more treatment options for sickle cell disease patients in the future.   WATCH THIS VIDEO TO LEARN MORE:

What is this study about? The purpose of this study is to learn more about ways to measure how fast our brains process information. We also want to see how these measures are related to other aspects of how our brain works and how we interact with others. We will compare samples of normal-hearing participants to participants with cochlear implants (CIs) in order to validate measures and test associations in these two populations.Who can take part?We are enrolling English-speaking adults ages 18 – 29 with normal hearing (controls) or those with hearing loss and use a cochlear implant.
